Peter Oxley grew up in Deddington and has been playing the piano for now over 10 years.

He draws inspiration from a plethora of Jazz artists and has honed the ability to take requests for any song in any style. Through Oxfordshire County Music Service, Peter has had the pleasure of performing for HM The Queen, her Lord Lt. Tim Stephenson, as well as for Kate Winslet, Ryan Seacrest, Scarlett Johansson and Howard Goodall. Peter has been fortunate to be able to study with some of the best Jazz musicians in the UK including Huw Warren, Nick Weldon, Gwilym Simcock and Sam Leak, and has performed in Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Derngate Theatre Northampton, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Anyhoe Park, the Randolph Hotel and numerous Oxford Colleges.

He takes bookings for weddings and parties, and teaches students of all ages and abilities, and is very excited to be a part of Deddington OnAir. Come to the Unicorn Inn on a Sunday Lunchtime to watch him play!

'I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good'

by Duke Ellington/Paul Francis Webster, arranged by Keith Jarrett, transcribed by Sam Leak

This Duke Ellington song was recorded by Keith Jarrett on his 1999 album 'The Melody at Night, With You'. The album was created whilst Jarrett was suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and is thus imbued with a simplicity and intimacy. London based Jazz Pianist Sam Leak completed a note for note transcription of Jarrett's recording in 2012; of which I used as a guide for my performance. Recorded with Laurence Suckling, a fantastic local musician whose work can be heard here:
